I have android 4.4.4 unit in my car. Xwidget widgets do not work when I select the auto location feature. It does not respond. I looked at Android location settings, Xwidget is not among the programs that request location permission. No auto problem in my phone is working auto location. Can you help with this problem?

Note: Xwidget latest version installed.

Hello. Go to settings , apps , tap on XWidget and then you'll find the permissions tab there to activate the location. (My phone is a S7 edge with 7.0 so maybe your phone's settings are a bit different, but the main functionality is there).
Be sure to have XWidget app in the exception list from battery auto optimization or any autokill feature of the phone. The last Android versions have aggressive background killing apps function so except the permission, you need to be sure that the app runs properly in the background.
The dev tries to resolve all the issues introduced in the latest version after the new SDK. The previous version {1.94) works better.

"Settings / apps / location / location permissions". there is no such thing.
The application information has application permissions, they have permissions, and it only writes information. no changes are made.

There is also no option for battery optimization in my android 4.4 unit in my car

So the app is running on a phone with Android 4.4?
The battery optimization extra options was introduced on Android 6.0+
The Android version is old and here are some infos about 4.4+ version and permissions.

I have the old Galaxy Tab E with Android 4.4.4. What I'm seeing is Settings, Application management, XWidget. Under permissions you can see location GPS permission? Because for me this info exists in the list.

No, auto location does not work in android 4.4.
The problem is:
Xwiget has a location permisisons. But there is no xwidget in apps in the location request. So Xwidget does not request a location.
I think this is related to the location permission code.

Maybe, but it's strange though.. Here is what I have on my tablet with Android 4.4.4 (the language is italian but you'll understand)
I will try to find the 1.94 version and send you the apk to test. It will helpful if you can attach a screenshot from your phone's settings.

The app has permissions. But it doesn't request location. And for this reason auto location is not working. I tried with v1.94. Same problem with it too.

Thank you for the details. Since I have two old phones with Android 4.0 and Android 4.4 and the location permission appears normally, my next thought is the bad "collaboration" between the app and your particular car system. Those car systems support Android but don't work exactly like on a normal phone. I don't know if I'm clear.. So maybe XWidget simply doesn't work properly there. In any case you'll be able to recheck when the new version comes out.
Thank you
