Post subject: | Intermittant Execution of all Widgets |
Pretty much since my computer updated to Build 1909 of Windows 10 Home, after about 6 hours of execution, the widgets active on screen start to stutter. They run for about 8-15 seconds, then everything stops for 2-3 seconds, then they resume for another 8-15, pause for 2-3 seconds, etc. I looked for another application that may be routinely hogging all the CPU, or a regular HDD I/O. I've noticed that if a file operation has to wait for a HDD to wake from idle, this can cause widgets to pause until the I/O request is answered. But I could not see a correlation along these lines. Then I discovered that shutting down Xwidget, I'd wait about short while to ensure that Xwidget was unloaded from memory, then I would restart, and then Xwidget would run smoothly again another block of hours. It is only noticeable because 3 of the 4 widgets are on a 1 second, or less, update cycle, so these pauses tend to grab attention. The dancing widget next to the start button is like a system barometer. If she stops, there is usually a problem with CPU/Resources; usually. I have to wonder if anyone else has seen this phenomena on their installation, or if I am unique here. Update: 25/04/2020; Okay… I don't understand. And now for the last couple of days, I've seen no indication of this behaviour. Apparently it had something to do with the environment, but as to what is a complete mystery. I'd installed a Chromium based browser, and tried a media player, compatible with Xwidget, and then uninstalled it. Did that have an effect? Who knows… Update: 27/04/2020; I thought it took about 6 hours for this stuttering to occur, but in the last 2 days, I have been at work, and my computer has been running during my absence, and I've noticed that the stuttering of widget execution has been present when I get back to my desk. Elapsed time is more than 12 hours. So at sometime between 6 to 12 hours, the issue crops up. As to why though remains a mystery… |
